A majority of the British population wants to remain in the European Union

A majority of the British population think the United Kingdom should remain in the European Union, according to a new poll that was printed in The Independent on Sunday.
There will be a decisive Parliament vote on Tuesday.

BMG Research held a poll involving 1,500 people between the 4th and 7th of December. It showed that 52% of British people now want to remain in the EU. 40% still want to leave, 6% “don’t know” and 1% abstained.

Support for Remain has continued to increase since the summer. The Independent said it went above 50% in December.

Nearly half of those that took part think the compromise negotiated by Prime Minister Theresa May is a “bad deal” and 43% think Parliament should reject it on Tuesday.
