The Gilets Jaunes (Yellow Vests) demonstration, which degenerated into violence from 1.30 p.m. near the neutral zone in Brussels, is now banned.
Anyone who continues to protest will be arrested, Brussels Mayor Philippe Close told Belga News Agency on Friday afternoon.
He confirmed that dozens of demonstrators had already been arrested.
According to the mayor, the situation began to degenerate when demonstrators started throwing projectiles. The police, who, he said, kept their calm and have the situation under control, used water cannons to disperse protesters.
