Belgium placed fourth in the European Cycling Union rankings for the 2018 season with 486 points, behind France (1st, 537 pts), the Netherlands (2nd, 512 pts) and Czech Republic (3rd, 487).
The rankings are based on performances in the European championships and cups in seven disciplines: track, mountain bike, cyclocross, BMX, road, time trial and indoors.

Russia finished first on the track, and Belgium 7th.  In the mountain bike category, Switzerland won gold, while Belgium was 12th. In cyclocross, Belgium was second to the Netherlands. The Dutch were also first on BMX, and Belgium 8th .

On the road, only Italy managed to outdo Belgium, while in the time trials, Spain was No. 1 and Belgium 5th. Finally, on the indoor track, won by Germany, Belgium placed ninth.
