First clashes between Gilets Jaunes protesters and police in Brussels

by editor
Clashes have broken out between some protesters from the ‘gilets jaunes’ movement and the police midday on Rue Montoyer in the European district in Brussels.
Protesters gathered at the Schuman roundabout are joining other demonstrators between Trone and Arts-Loi. About 500 ‘gilet jaunes’ demonstrators are also trying to descend rue de la Loi to get to Schuman but are being blocked off by police.

A small group of demonstrators managed to break through the police cordon, and clashes broke out. Bottles have been thrown at police officers, while police have responded with tear gaz.

So far 50 arrests have been made in Gare du Midi, Gare Central and Brussels European quarter.
