With a membership of 1.2 million members, the General Federation of Belgian Labour is second the largest trade union in Belgium. During a press conference, the President revealed a few elements in particular in connection with the national day of action to be held on 14 December to denounce the government’s backward policy.” In Liège and Charleroi, a 24-hour strike is already planned.

Some actions will be led by a joint trade union front, the FGTB said. In addition to strikes, actions such as business blockages, but also blitz actions that could extend to roadblocks and blockages of strategic production points, such as industrial zonings.

A rally of the joint trade union front will also be held at 11 am Friday outside of the FEB headquarters. “We are also keeping some surprises,” Robert Vertenueil says. He also speaks of great “nervousness” within the regions. There may be numerous strikes in businesses, he warns. “All actions are designed to get employers and the government to face their responsibilities.”
