Record number of dry days in 2018

by editor December 28, 2018
December 28, 2018
A new climate record was set this year: that of the lowest number of rainy days since 1883 in Uccle, according to meteorological statistics for 2018.
Based on the weather conditions in the few days left in this year, the total number of wet days will be between 141 and 143.

In 1921, there were 153 such days in Belgium, meteorologist David Dehenauw said on Twitter on Friday.

On the other hand, 2018 was not one of the driest years. Dehenauw said he expected about 645 millilitres of rain in Uccle, about 200 mm less than normal, but not low enough to earn 2018 a slot among the top 10 driest years.

Average temperature now stands at 11.8°, making 2018 the second hottest year since 2014, which registered an average of 11.9°.

Uccle recorded 1,900 hours of sunshine this year, the sixth highest annual total since 1887.
