“The Asylum policy will continue” says Alexander De Croo

by editor
The “firm but humane” Asylum policy will continue, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander De Croo said when appearing on TV program De Zevende Dag on Sunday.
“No-one in this government wants an open border policy”, he said. He didn’t like the “Marrakech coalition” term used by the N-VA.

“We will continue the Asylum and Immigration policy put in place by Maggie De Block (Open Vld) in the previous government”, said Mr De Croo.

Mr De Croo said the N-VA has “subtly” taken another direction regarding Belgium’s position in the world. “It’s a question of principles for me”, said the former Deputy Prime Minister.

HIS opinion is shared by Kris Peeters, the CD&V Deputy Prime Minister. “The term Marrakech coalition does not fit what we intend to do”, he said.
