Rudi Vervoort, Minister-President of the Brussels-Capital Region, and Philippe Close, Mayor of the City of Brussels, have recently announced the issuance of the permit which allows the renovation of the building of the Stock Exchange as well as the surrounding area.

The City of Brussels has plans to create  a cultural, commercial and touristic hub within the Stock Exchange building.

The plan is to restore the building completely, including the facades, roof and the interior decorations, as well as the renovation of the archaeological site ‘Bruxellae 1238’.

Via the ERDF fund and the support of the Brussels-Capital Region, a public-private partnership has been signed with the Federation of Belgian Brewers, which allows for the future establishment of a restaurant and a brewery occupying the 2nd and 3rd floors of the Stock Exchange.

“Beyond the direct jobs that will naturally be created for the benefit of the people of Brussels, this project, in the heart of the city, this new and very original plan for the Exchange building, with its exceptional heritage and tourist appeal, will be a significant attraction for tourism, I am convinced,” stated Rudi Vervoort.
