Unions representing employees of Deutsche Bank in Belgium have obtained supplementary indemnities linked to service for 24 retrenchments announced at a works council on 21 February, the permanent secretary of the Centrale nationale des employés (CNE), Anetta Verstraeten, told Belga news agency on Tuesday. Two Deutsche Bank agencies, in Saint-Trond et Lommel, “that were under-performing” will close their doors “in the very short term.”

Twenty-two employees have already been informed individually of the management’s decision.

The union representatives have also asked for the negotiated modalities to be written into the next collective labour agreement in cases of economic or technical retrenchments.

“Human resources have given us a guarantee that they will discuss this with the management committee,” Ms. Verstraeten said.

Deutsche Bank has 672 employees in Belgium.
