AG Insurance expects to pay over 45 million euros for storm damage

by editor
AG Insurance, which accounts for 25% of the home-insurance market, expects to receive 25,000 damage claims following last week’s storms, the company said on Monday in a first estimate.
The total amount it may need to pay out will “likely” total about 45 million euros and could even be higher, it said.

Storms and violent winds shook Belgium last week, causing damage to many houses. The worst hit areas were East Flanders, Antwerp, Flemish Brabant and Brussels-Capital Region, according to the insurer.

Many claims are still outstanding, but AG Insurance has already issued a first estimate of the damage and its repairers have already conducted over 1,000 interventions in one week.
