Delhaize plans to take on 1,000 new staff

Delhaize Le Lion is launching a campaign to attract 1,000 new team leaders and assistant store managers, the supermarket chain announced on Wednesday.

It is organising an information evening for Dutch-speakers on 23 April in Vilvorde, and one for Francophones on 25 April in Wavre, to enable people interested in the function of assistant store manager to learn more about the way Delhaize functions.

Information sessions for would-be team leaders are programmed for 7 and 9 May in Dutch and French respectively.

“Delhaize has developed an innovative concept for presenting the company, its strategy and the functions to candidates in a creative manner,” the company said. To assess whether candidates could qualify to become team leaders, cookery workshops are to be run. This is a direct reference to the food business, which is at the heart of Delhaize’s activities.

“How people work together and communicate with one another teaches us a lot about each of them,” the supermarket chain stressed, announcing that it aimed to recruit 1,000 new employees this year.
