Electrabel gets the green light to restart Doel 2

by editor
Belgium’s federal nuclear control agency, AFCN, gave the green light to Engie Electrabel on Friday to restart production at the Doel 2 nuclear reactor, the agency announced in a press release.
Production at Doel 2 had been stopped after Electrabel detected a minor leak in the unit’s emergency cooling system in April last. Scheduled maintenance work on the site had then been brought forward so as to repair the leak.

Production was again suspended later in the year for a scheduled revision as well as a long-term revision to extend the exploitation of the unit.
