A fire in a hotel in the Brussels municipality of Saint-Gilles left one person slightly injured and extensive damage to the hotel’s facilities.
Firefighters were called after a fire broke out in the Hilton Garden Inn hotel on Thursday evening, where they arrived at around 21:44.
All hotel guests had been evacuated when the firemen arrived, and one person sustained light injuries during the evacuation procedure.
The fire was extinguished at 22:04, and most guests were able to return to their accommodations.
“The hotel is currently being ventilated and guests will soon be able to return to their room — except those staying where the fire broke out,” a spokesperson for the fire department told Belgian media, adding the room had been left badly damaged.
The fire broke out in a room on the third floor of the hotel, located in Rue Berckmans, near the station Porte de Hal.
The causes of the fire had not yet been determined.
