Flanders prepares an emergency decree in case of "no deal" Brexit

Flemish MPs supported by the government are currently drafting a decree to prepare Flanders for a no deal Brexit scenario.
This text will be tabled in plenary on 13 March, the day after the deadline for British Prime Minister Theresa May to postpone the British MP’s vote on the withdrawal agreement.

“This decree is necessary to be ready for anything because no one can predict today how it will turn out,” said Minister-President of Flanders Geert Bourgeois (N-VA).

The decree, prepared by Flemish MPs Jan Van Esbroeck (N-VA) and Rik Daems (Open Vld), would focus on the mutual rights of citizens, particularly for access to employment, education and the disability sector.

The United Kingdom must theoretically leave the EU on March 29th, 2019.
