Glamping in Tel Aviv during the Eurovision

by editor January 19, 2019
January 19, 2019
Tel Aviv is getting ready to host the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest and is anticipating record-high demands of overnight stays in the city.
Israeli singer Netta Barzilai won last year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, bringing the 64th edition of the contest to Israel for the third time.

This year’s song contest will take place between the 14th and 18th of May at Expo Tel Aviv, the city’s convention centre. The event is expected to attract over 10,000 international participants.

Over the last 3 years, the number of international visitors to Tel Aviv has almost doubled and is expected to reach an overall new all-time high in 2019. Hotel prices are high and have led to an expansion in Airbnb apartments for rent.

To accommodate the expected record number of visitors, Tel Aviv municipality approved this week the building of a campsite for 2,000 people in the Yarkon Park, the largest urban park in Israel, within walking distance to EXPO Tel Aviv.

The “Tent City” will operate during May and June. The months are filled with international events, including Eurovision and the Tel Aviv Pride Parade, which is the city’s largest annual event.

Accommodations on site will be available at three different levels: basic camping, where guests are invited to bring their own tent or rent camping gear on site, glamping (combining the words Glamour + Camping), where nature meets luxury, and luxury caravans.

The BDS-movement in some EU countries have called for a boycott of the song contest in Israel for political reasons but no country has withdrawn its participation.

3 days ago by welovebrussels We had a walk around Place Georges Brugmann this evening! We visited many nicely decorated places, flower shops, enjoyed some art pieces from Finland  @spazionobilegallery  and discovered an artisan perfumes & candles shop  @lantichambre_perfume . Despite the cold night the atmosphere was great, a lot of friendly people and late opening hours of shops, restaurants, art galleries and other local businesses who created a wonderful initiative: "La Place Brugmann en Fleurs". Good example that other Brussels neighborhoods should follow! Thanks  @patrick_menache  for the advice! WE INSPIRE THE CITY TOGETHER.  #WELOVEBRUSSELS  . . . . . . . . . . .…
