Sweden’s 16-year-old climate activist Greta Thunberg will visit Antwerp on Thursday to take part in its fifth climate march since the start of the mobilisation of Belgian youth.
While the Antwerp marches have been relatively small so far, this event – organized by Youth for Climate and Anuna De Wever – is expected to draw a bigger crowd.
Last week, Thunberg visited Brussels, where she warned that there was not enough time left for young people to save the world. She then joined the thousands of young people marching the streets of the city, while media and demonstrators gathered with hopes of seeing the young activist.
The march was attended by 7,500 students, a drop from the 11,000 young participants reported the previous week. The Antwerp march already expects 502 to attend, with 1.6K “interested,” according to the Facebook event.

The march will leave the Operaplein at 9 am before crossing the city centre and joining the Groenplaats. This is the eighth consecutive week that strikes have occurred throughout Belgium against global warming.
A number of events in other cities are once again expected, including in Brussels, but also in Leuven and Liege.
