Alongside the publication of these prizes, Wednesday afternoon in Brussels, Karel Van Eetvelt, President of the Banking Sector Federation (FEBELFIN), emphasized the need for actors to develop the digital approach to their products. He also evoked the phenomena of shared and circular economies. “While these phenomena may appear marginal today, there is a good chance that this will no longer be the case in five years. Whoever develops now services going in this direction will come out a winner in five years,” he predicts.
The head of FEBELFIN also insisted on ethics, sustainable products, and the evolution of a cashless society. Banks must focus on their sales force in order to face tough competition from companies such as Apple, Google and Alibaba. They must develop their data and customer knowledge. “We must be present on both counts. We must be the best in technological development and in human contact,” he concludes.
