Leopold II’s statue on Place du Trône defaced

by editor
Leopold II’s statue on Place du Trône, Brussels, had been defaced by graffiti after the “Occupy for Climate” sit-in.
It was cleaned up on Thursday by Buildings Authority services.  The operation is expected to cost around 400 euros without VAT.

“We received an offer to clean the statue from ‘Klimaatactie Dendermonde’,” (organization for climate in Termonde) the Buildings Authority said, “but we preferred a specialized firm.”

Greenpeace, among the organizers of the “Occupy for Climate” movement, had informed Brussels city services of its desire to take charge of cleaning the statue.
