The police noted that an individual was filming young girls during the pro-climate demonstration on Thursday in Brussels, and that he was adopting sexual behaviours towards them, the Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office said on Friday.
The suspect, B.H. – a man aged 44, was questioned and arrested. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened a formal judicial investigation against him for indecent assault on minors.

“On 31 January 2019, plainclothes officers in the Brussels-Nord police zone were present during the pro-climate demonstration, so as to make the area safe for the public. Their attention was drawn to a man approaching several young girls. He was observed filming them, and adopting sexual behaviours towards them. He was questioned whilst committing an offence,” related the Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office.

“A judicial investigation for indecent assault upon minors has been opened, and the man concerned has been detained. He was potentially due to appear before the Public Prosecutor on 1 February 2019. The prosecutor is due to reach a decision during the day. Furthermore, several GSMs and computers which are thought to contain images of a sexual nature, were seized at his home,” indicated the Public Prosecutor’s Office, further saying, “At this stage no victims have been identified. The investigation to identify them is ongoing.”
