The new electronic polling stations ran smoothly on Sunday morning.
There were some IT incidents that had already been resolved or were currently being resolved, Home Affairs SPF spokesman Peter Grouwels told the Belga agency at around 10:30am.

“There are 83 ongoing repairs. That’s very few considering we have a total of 31,000 computers”, the spokesman said.

In the south of the country, the French-speaking communes used paper but the nine German-speaking communes used electronic voting. Residents in the Brussels-Capital region also voted electronically. In Flanders, 157 communes voted electronically and the other 143 voted on paper.
