The national climate march will take place in Mons on May 9

by editor
The platform Mons se bouge pour le climat (Mons is moving for the climate) decided to continue mobilising and organising a demonstration on Thursday, May 9, in Mons.
Proceedings will begin at 13:00, starting from the place Léopold (Mons station) and finishing at the Marché aux Herbes in the town centre with speeches and an activist concert.

The city has already seen two demonstrations over the climate that gathered together some 1,400 people on February 14 and around 2,500 on March 15.

The demonstration orchestrated by Mons se bouge pour le climat will be the national meeting place for marches in support of action. The organisers have announced the presence of two figures from the student climate movement, Anuna De Wever from Antwerp and Adélaide Charlier from Namur. Departures for Mons from the country’s main towns will be organised.

On the same day, the “cyclistes montois” will do something concrete in their own way for the planet by coming to Mons on their bikes. During the day, they will set up meetings for all citizens to attend at an “Electoral Promises Office” set up in the Marché aux Herbes to demonstrate their will to carry fighting for the climate and a sustainable social movement going beyond the May 26 elections.
