Walloon weapons were shipped to Saudi Arabia from Antwerp port last weekend.
“The cargo on board the vessel Bahri Yanbu was shipped using a valid licence that had not been suspended”, the Customs and Excise general administrator Kristian Vanderwaeren wrote in a letter he sent on Tuesday. The letter was addressed to Vincent Letellier, the lawyer for the Human Rights League and the CNAPD.

The Saudi flagship Bahri Yanbu was at Antwerp port from Friday evening to Sunday evening, after arriving from Bremen in Germany. It then went to England and is now off the coast of Havre, where the French press says it is due to pick up another weapons shipment.

A French NGO submitted an emergency request to try and stop it docking. Bahri Yanbu has been anchored off the coast of Havre since Thursday. AFP says it is because “the technical conditions at the port are not right”.
