“Week of Sound” extends to Wallonia and Flanders

by editor
The eighth edition of Brussels’s “Sound Week” will also reach Wallonia and Flanders this year.
Various events related to the world of sound will be held from 26 January to 10 February throughout the territory on the theme of “the relationship between image and sound.”

This festival aims to bring the public to a better understanding of sound and to make the society’s stakeholders more aware of the importance of the quality of the sound environment.

For the first time, this year’s event will “resonate” in Wallonia and Flanders. Actions aiming at raising awareness of different sound-related issues will take place in cities such as Charleroi, Huy, Mons, Namur, Antwerp, Leuven, Mechelen and Liège. In the latter, Gaëtan Cristino will present a series of sound textures directly recorded in the Cité ardente. On 29 January and 2 February, in Mons and Antwerp, people will be able to hear electroacoustic creations intercrossed between the two linguistic communities.

Brussels, of course, will not be left out. A day will be dedicated to hearing health at the Botanique on 28 January. The Brussels group “Two Times Nothing,” respecting the 90 DB Label, is programmed on the same day. A concert at the Museum of Musical Instruments (MIM) is also on the agenda, to rediscover a rather unknown instrument to the general public, the “piano viole.” Meanwhile, the Cinematek will propose several films the music of which was written by the musician Walter Hus.
