Heavy rainfall on the Greek island of Paros has resulted in significant flooding, overwhelming streets and sweeping away vehicles in the town of Naousa. The deluge, which began on Monday, left a trail of destruction, with muddy waters inundating urban areas.
Emergency measures implemented
In response to the flooding, local authorities have taken swift action by closing schools and imposing a traffic ban. Only emergency vehicles are permitted on the roads to ensure safety and facilitate rescue operations. Residents have been advised to remain indoors as conditions remain perilous.
Severe weather warnings persist
Weather experts have issued warnings of continued severe weather in the region. With more heavy rain anticipated across the Aegean islands, particularly in the Cyclades, a red warning has been in effect until early Tuesday. Authorities are urging residents to stay vigilant and avoid unnecessary travel during this hazardous period.
“We are advising everyone to stay indoors and refrain from travel as the situation is quite dangerous,” a local official stated.
