Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip overnight have resulted in the deaths of at least 27 Palestinians, according to reports from local health officials. Among those killed were ten members of a single family in Beit Lahiya, including Abdel-Fattah Abu Mahadi, a former prisoner who had recently been released during a ceasefire, along with his wife, children, and a grandchild.
Casualties in various locations
Further casualties were reported in other areas of Gaza; seven individuals lost their lives in Gaza City, while ten others were killed in Khan Younis, including several young children. These airstrikes follow the resumption of hostilities after a ceasefire with Hamas ended last month, with Israeli forces conducting daily bombardments that have severely impacted the 2 million residents of Gaza, leading to shortages of food and medical supplies.
Ongoing conflict and military responses
The Israeli military has not provided immediate comments on the recent strikes. Officials from Israel maintain that their operations are aimed at targeting militants, whereas Palestinian voices contend that no area within Gaza is safe from the attacks. The continuing violence raises significant humanitarian concerns as conditions deteriorate for those living in the densely populated region.
“No area in Gaza is safe,” Palestinian officials emphasized amid the ongoing violence.
