Celebrating Judo Excellence at the 2024 Judo Awards

Before the finals commenced, an awards ceremony recognized the outstanding achievements of athletes in the judo community. The prestigious 2024 Judo Awards highlighted the talent and dedication displayed throughout the year.

Highlights from the Finals

In the -81kg category, Francois GAUTHIER DRAPEAU clinched his first Grand Slam gold medal, executing a skillful uchi-mata for waza-ari. Dr. Sandor CSANYI, President of OTP Bank, presented the medals, marking a proud moment for the champion.

Meanwhile, Ai TSUNODA ROUSTANT secured her second gold in the Paris Grand Slam at -70kg, showcasing her talent with a stunning seoi-otoshi for ippon. The medals were awarded by IOC member Mr. Balazs FÜRJES, celebrating her remarkable achievement.

In the -90kg final, Jonghoon KIM made his mark by scoring ippon, earning his first Grand Slam gold medal. The medals were presented by Mrs. Kolinda GRABAR-KITAROVIC, a notable figure in both Croatian and international sports.

Patricia SAMPAIO impressed the crowd in the -78kg final, also scoring ippon and taking her place at the top of the podium. UCI President and IOC member Mr. David LAPPARTIENT was on hand to award the medals.

In the -100kg division, Dzhafar KOSTOEV delivered an astonishing performance with an ippon that left the audience in awe. The medals for this category were awarded by Dr. Naser AL TAMIMI, the IJF General Treasurer.

Hometown favorite Lea FONTAINE delighted her supporters by winning in the +78kg category, further enhancing her reputation as a rising star in judo. IOC member Mrs. Filomena FORTES presented the medals amidst cheers from the crowd.

Finally, Inal TASOEV emerged victorious in the +100kg category after securing a win with ippon during the golden score. ANOCA President and IOC member Mr. Mustapha BERRAF was present to award the medals, capping off a thrilling day.
