A significant drone assault launched by Russia targeted Kharkiv on Wednesday night, resulting in injuries to at least 12 individuals, among them a 12-year-old girl. This incident has raised serious concerns about safety and security in Ukraine’s second-largest city, according to reports from local authorities and emergency services.

Emergency response and firefighting efforts

In response to the attack, over 117 emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene to extinguish blazes and assist those affected by the strike. A particularly large fire, which engulfed approximately 2,500 square meters at a production facility, posed a significant challenge for firefighters, who worked tirelessly through the night to bring it under control.

Military actions and damage assessment

The Ukrainian Air Force successfully intercepted 42 out of the 86 drones involved in the attack. Additionally, 26 drones were thwarted from reaching their intended targets due to effective electronic countermeasures. Despite these defensive efforts, extensive damage was reported across multiple areas, highlighting the ongoing risks and challenges faced by residents in the region.

“The situation remains critical as we assess the full extent of the damage and continue to support the victims,” an emergency services spokesperson stated.
