Snoopy in Style: New Paris exhibition fuses Peanuts with high fashion

by editor

This weekend, the enchanting universe of Peanuts will intertwine with the elegance of high fashion at a new exhibition titled ‘Snoopy in Style’ in Paris. This unique showcase delves into the transformation of beloved characters Snoopy, Charlie Brown, and their companions, while underscoring their significant impact on pop culture and the fashion scene.

Celebrating 75 Years of Peanuts

When Charles M. Schulz first introduced Charlie Brown to the world, his iconic zig-zag shirt was not yet a commercial reality. As time progressed, the Peanuts characters began to adopt strikingly unique styles; from Peppermint Patty’s rejection of traditional school uniforms to Snoopy’s array of chic outfits that highlight his fashionable flair.

This exhibition commemorates the 75th anniversary of Peanuts, celebrated on October 2nd, featuring an impressive collection of 75 specially crafted outfits for Snoopy and his sister Belle. These plush figures have been adorned by renowned fashion houses including Chanel, Fendi, Vivienne Westwood, Dolce & Gabbana, Zac Posen, and Valentino.

Fashion Icons Inspired by Peanuts

In addition to the lavish ensembles for Snoopy and Belle, the exhibition presents a selection of Peanuts-inspired creations from notable designers such as Marc Jacobs and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac. A highlight of the event is Castelbajac’s 1989 runway jacket, which is entirely covered in plush representations of Snoopy—a delightful homage to Schulz’s wit and creative spirit.

Visitors can enjoy free admission to ‘Snoopy in Style’, which will be open from March 22 to April 5 at the Hôtel du Grand Veneur, located in the vibrant Marais district of Paris.
