In a devastating incident on Monday afternoon, four children lost their lives and multiple individuals were injured when a car crashed into an after-school camp building in a town just outside of Springfield, Illinois. The Chatham Police Department reported that emergency responders arrived at approximately 3:20 p.m. local time following calls regarding a vehicle that struck three individuals outside the facility before crashing into the building and hitting one more person on its way out.

According to the Illinois State Police, the deceased children ranged in age from 4 to 18 years old. In addition to those fatally injured, several others were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. Status of the driver
The driver of the vehicle, who remains unnamed, was not injured in the crash. Authorities confirm that the driver was the only occupant of the car and was taken to a hospital for evaluation following the incident.
