Audi to recall e-tron vehicles assembled in Brussels

by editor

The German manufacturer Audi is due to recall 1,644 units of its electric e-tron model, assembled at the Audi factory in the municipality of Forest in Brussels, to the United States.

According to Audi, the recall is due to a seal problem that could potentially lead to water entering the battery compartment of the electric car. This is not a design or assembly error caused by the Brussels plant, but rather an error in a part made by an as-yet undisclosed subcontractor.

Repairs to the recalled vehicles in the United States could take until August. Owners of the recalled vehicles will receive a replacement car and $800 in diesel compensation. The recall of vehicles across the Atlantic may well lead to others being recalled too: the importer D’Ieteren, in particular, is openly preparing itself for this possibility.
