Belgian residents among those who passed away in Ethiopian Airlines plane crash

157 people have died in the fatal accident in Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 302 on March 10th. The flight was a scheduled from Addis Ababa to Nairobi. A Belgian woman as well as a French Belgianresident are part of the victims.

149 passengers and 8 aircrews have passed away after the ET302 flight has crashed, some minutes after it departed on Sunday. There were no survivors, the Ethiopian authorities said.

My thoughts and condolences go to the families and loved ones of the victims of the Ethiopian Airlines ET302/10 plane crash in Ethiopia,” Violeta Bulc, the EU Commissioner in charge of transport, wrote on Twitter. 

33 different countries have lost at least one of their nationals during the crash. 

Didier Reynders, the Belgian minister for Foreign affairs, wrote on Twitter that a female Belgian national was one of the victims. According to Sudpress, the woman was a Rebecqresident who was about 60 years-old.

 

 

Karim Saafi, a 38 years-old French citizen, who used to live in Brussels, has also passed away in this accident. He participated in different projects across Europe, also vice-chair of the African Diaspora Youth Forum in Europe. He was also deeply involved with the youth in Molenbeek.

He was supposed to attend the UN Environment Assembly held in Nairobi from 11 to 15 March. As an active man in the Brussels life, many messages have been posted on social networks to pay tribute to him.
