UK election: Boris Johnson wins strong Conservative majority

by editor

LONDON — Boris Johnson has been re-elected British prime minister after a landslide victory.

The Conservatives won 333 of the 650 seats in the House of Commons, giving the party a clear majority with 43 seats yet to be declared.

The result is a stunning personal victory for Johnson and means the U.K. will almost certainly leave the European Union in January 2020.
