The Brussels region in total had 89,960 jobseekers (a rate of 16%) at the end of January. This 51stsuccessive decrease in unemployment corresponds to a reduction of 1,917 people compared to last year (less than 2.1%). Compared to 2014, the number of jobseekers has reduced by 22,075 – 19.7%.
The detailed breakdown showed that Brussels had 61,136 jobseekers claiming benefit (known as ‘DEDA’), 4,930 youngsters gaining job experience and 23,894 other jobseekers, either registered as such of their own free will or compulsorily.
Amongst the 89,960 jobseekers, 12,607 (14%) are using the Public Social Services Centres (known as ‘CPAS’). There is now a higher percentage of CPAS users amongst youngsters, currently 22.3%.
During January 2019, Actiris received a total of 25,447 details of situations vacant.
