In this way, a special issue of Spirou Magazine (no. 4200) was published this year. It was created in partnership with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Spirou has chosen the Atomium to host the celebrations and activities marking this anniversary. This emblem of Brussels and Belgium was created for the Brussels World’s Fair (Expo 58), whose theme was A review of the world for a more humane world. It still embodies humanist values through its events and exhibitions.
Earlier in the week, Atomium showed its support for Spirou and his defence of human rights – whose rallying call is #Spirou4Rights – by replacing the national colours of Belgium and hoisting the flag of the United Nations. Visitors to the Atomium will learn more about human rights during their tours.
