The authorities of the DRC had announced in February 2018 the reduction of Brussels Airlines flights between the two destinations from 7 to 4 per week following a diplomatic crisis between Belgium and the DRC.
Brussels Airlines spokesperson Wencke Lemmes told the Belga news agency that the carrier would resume the daily flights “as quickly as possible”, adding that “other long-haul planes are already scheduled to operate other flights and seats there are already reserved”. The process will take tine so it cannot be done from one day to the next, she added.
Brussels now needs to adapt its international network to the new development. The airline has 10 planes suitable for this type of flight, Airbus A330s. This should not cause any problems since it was already flying daily to and from Kinshasa up to February last year.
