IRM predicts a cloudy, snowy start to the year

by editor January 2, 2019
January 2, 2019
The Royal Meteorological Service (IRM) predicts that Wednesday will remain cloudy with localised showers and snowfall in the heights of the Ardennes, followed at night by similar weather.
The sky will remain partially to very cloudy throughout the day, with a risk of a few showers. South of the Sambre-Meuse line, there will be some snow showers.

The temperature will plunge below zero during the night – as low as -3 degrees south of the Sambre-Meuse line. In the rest of the country, temperatures will range between 0 and 5 degrees. The wind will be slight, sometime moderate on the coast, coming in from the northwest.

Snow is to be expected in the Ardennes on Thursday. There will also be some showers, especially along the Coast. In the Eastern highlands, highs will be about 0 degree, while in Flanders they will hover around 5 degrees. The wind will be slight, blowing in from the north.

There could be clear skies on Friday afternoon, mainly in the west of the country, and dry weather in most of the regions. The weather will be a bit milder at the weekend.
