Vote: What’s the best Grand Place Christmas tree?

by editor

How many Grand Place Christmas trees have you seen in person? Which one took your breath away?

What makes a Christmas tree remarkable anyway? Is it the style, the size, the theme, or the number of presents under it?

Every holiday season, we see a different kind of Christmas tree glittering in the middle of the Grand Place in Brussels.

The chosen tree is usually taken from the forests of Belgium’s southern region of Wallonia. Every once in a while, it comes as a gift from another country.

One particular tree became controversial because it wasn’t a real tree. In 2012, Brussels decided to go for an electronic tree installation, which was taken down much sooner because it didn’t sit so well with the public.

This year, the twinkling and towering centerpiece of Grand Place is a traditional spruce tree from the Hautes Fagnes or the High Fens, a vast nature reserve in the Liège Province.

Let’s take a look at some of the most captivating Christmas trees ever to grace the Grand Place. Which one appeals to you the most? Cast your vote.
