Belgium’s day of mourning for flood victims

by editor

Belgium held a day of mourning Tuesday for the victims of the recent floods.

At least 31 people are reported to have been killed in Belgium after record rainfall triggered severe floods across Europe, with dozens still missing.

A ceremony was held in the town of Verviers in the province of Liège, which was among the hardest-hit areas in Belgium, attended by members of the royal family and senior politicians.

Festivities for the national holiday on Wednesday will be scaled down.
