COVID booster jabs available for all Brussels residents over 18

by editor

The Belgian communal health commission (GGC) announced Monday that all Brussels residents over the age of 18 are eligible to receive a booster jab of any of the available COVID-19 vaccines.

Although the jab is available for all adults in Brussels, there is a mandatory waiting time between initial full vaccination and the booster shot.

The waiting time for booster varies per vaccine: two months for the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine; four months for Oxford/AstraZeneca; and six months for the BioNTech/Pfizer and Moderna shots.

The GGC encourages people to make an appointment through the Bruvax website.

Belgium’s Prime Minister Alexander De Croo warned Monday that the holding of festive celebrations “will depend on [Belgians’] behavior,” adding: “The new measures [adopted last Friday] requires everyone’s effort.”

Thibault Spirlet contributed reporting.
