On 27 February, British prime minster Theresa May announced that if Parliament was to reject its latest proposal for an agreement on the United Kingdom’s exit from the European Union in the vote scheduled for 12 March, it would be forced to request an extension of the Brexit deadline, set for 29 March. The aim is to avoid a “hard Brexit” without an agreement, the consequences of which are at this stage unpredictable.
