Theresa May’s Brexit: Hamletic | VoxEurop.eu: European news, cartoons and press reviews

by editor January 18, 2019
January 18, 2019

With 70 days to go for Britain to leave the European Union, on 15 January the British Parliament rejected the Brexit agreement negotiated between the British government and the EU was rejected by by a clear majority of 430 votes against and 202 in favour. On the day after, the opposition Labour party failed to get its motion of censure approved. Prime minister Theresa May must now present a “Plan B” before 21 January. A few options are on the table, while the clock is still ticking: negotiating a new agreement with the EU; revoking the formal leaving process; calling snap polls; holding a second referendum, or preparing for a “hard Brexit”.
