Protesters clashed with police for a second day in Paris on Saturday after a deadly shooting at a Kurdish cultural center on Friday sparked angry demonstrations.

The clashes broke out on the sidelines of a protest by the Kurdish community organized at Place de la République, French and international media reported. Dozens of police officers were injured, some people arrested and vehicles damaged in the altercations, according to the reports.

On Friday, police arrested a 69-year-old French national in the shooting, which left three people dead. The suspect, who was known to Paris law enforcement authorities, had been under investigation over acts of racist violence. He had been arrested last year and recently was released, Paris prosecutor Laure Beccuau told reporters.
