King Philippe visits Antwerp University hospital

Belgium’s King Philippe on Friday visited Antwerp University hospital (UZA) to mark the 30th anniversary of the Flemish League Against Cancer.
The King met with cancer patients and volunteers, while taking part in a work meeting discussing the reintegration of cancer patients in the labour market.

In 2016, the Flemish League Against Cancer (Kom op tegen Kanker), raised nearly 16 million euro for cancer research and innovative healthcare projects.

The King took the opportunity to visit the laboratory of the center for Cell Therapy and Regenerative Medicine, where researcher Zwi Berneman is working on a new form of immunotherapy, also supported by the Flemish association.
