Vlaams Belang member forced to apologise after insulting a colleague

by editor February 21, 2019
February 21, 2019

The MP Jan Penris (VB) had to apologise Thursday in plenary after insulting one of his colleagues, Carina Van Cauter (Open VLD).

The MP made the remarks, off microphone, while Van Cauter replied to the Prime Minister as part of a discussion on Belgian jihadists currently imprisoned in Syria.

Such behaviour is not befitting a parliamentarian, said Speaker of the House Siegfried Bracke (N-VA), who called for an apology from Penris.

On Saturday, US President Donald Trump encouraged Europeans to bring the 800 ISIS soldiers home to face judgement in their country.
